Supermarket sales figures prove it: comfort food always wins in popularity stakes. Instead of cooking their own meals, more and more people buy ready-made meals from supermarkets after work. This led to Schuitema introduce a distinctive packaging line for his C1000 outlets. The design of this line needed to stand out, but not at the cost of its functionality - the protection of the product.

The result: light-weight packaging for meals that gives each type of food its own look. Those who like Dutch food recognise their preference from the Old Dutch pan packaging. An Eastern meal is presented in an Eastern-style dish, and a Mediterranean food is served in a typical oven dish. Packaging is transparent and not the usual black.
Visibly deliciousOn the one hand, this sets high demands on the manufacturer of the meals. The meal has to look good, as well as being tasty. And of course it must be healthy: there's a reason why more and more products come with the Dutch logo “ik kies bewust”, which translates to “I choose consciously”.
On the other hand, it's not easy to make suitable transparent packaging for food, quite simply, the PP range for this is even more limited than traditional materials while consumer demands consistently remain high.
This challenge was successfully overcome in the design phase.
